Weigh-In Party at Bunga Bunga

On Wednesday 14th September, our 10 amateur Boodles Boxing Boys and their friends and family descended on Bunga Bunga, London, to celebrate the weigh in party. Guests were treated to Asahi beer and authentic Italian food, coupled with live music. The atmosphere amongst the boys was surprisingly amiable, bearing in mind each boxer is fiercely competitive, and for some, the weigh in party was the first time they had met their opponent. The main focus of the evening was, of course, the weigh in. And our boys didn’t disappoint. Any nerves quickly dissolved as each boxer ran through the crowd up to the stage accompanied by music of their choice, before removing their shirts and stepping on the scales, flanked by two beauties who will act as ring girls on the night of the ball. Some relished the opportunity more than others. Andy Jennings flexed muscles we didn’t even know existed, and if James Mathias has remained on stage any longer, his song would have finished…
You would be forgiven for thinking that each man taking part is an accomplished sportsman. Whilst many have turned their hand successfully to rugby, and most are physically fit as part of their lifestyle routines, boxing is a foreign skill they have been learning specifically for the Boodles Boxing Ball over the past several months. A fantastic commitment to training and a dedication to the cause, all the boxers are participating in this Boodles event to benefit both Starlight Children’s Foundation, and the Dougie Dalzell MC Memorial Trust, both exceptionally worthy causes.
Whilst predictions regarding results on the night of the ball are almost impossible, what we can vouch for is that boxing training certainly hasn’t done our boys any harm! See pictures below;
